Confronting Glasgow's thugs and criminals is nothing compared to dealing with Edinburgh University's medical faculty. Edinburgh medical physiologist Geoffrey Walsh and Martin Lakie of Birmingham University's school of sport and exercise sciences, have designed equipment that monitors levels of hand tremor caused by stress, anxiety, fatigue and certain drugs. Wobble gradings have revealed that Edinburgh university students top the list, six places above Strathclyde Police and Dundee medical students.
At the Edinburgh International Science Festival they also revealed that, four places lower, Saga holidaymakers tie with Edinburgh firefighters. The steadiest hands belong to the residents of Samye Ling Buddhist monastery in the Scottish borders.
