Strathclyde University is spotlighting one of its own alumna to be proud of, Tory MP Jacqui Lait who recently became the first woman appointed to the Whips Office since it was established in 1621. But it notes that given the Whips' reputation, the media would reckon that the element of her Strathclyde education most relevant to her new job was throwing drunks out of the students union.
This must be a mistake - surely the whips are there to keep the drunks in, not sling them out?
