Forget the status symbol of a Jaguar car on a newly-gravelled drive. Derek Drummond, professor of architecture at McGill University in Montreal, thinks a better sign to watch for is the presence of a plastic flamingo. An imitation flamingo on the front lawn, Professor Drummond told a Canadian newspaper, is "the least expensive way that people can express themselves on their own property to their neighbours and their community."
