History may be written by the winners, but is it written about them? Keith Robbins's formidably inclusive Bibliography of British History 1914-89, recently published by OUP, lists 152 books and articles on the Labour party. It also notes 54 on the Communist party, 47 on the Liberals and Social Democrats and 46 on that minor historical irrelevance, the Conservative party.
