Background

Dr Stuart Barnes is a lecturer in Computational Intelligence and Data Analytics at ߣߣÊÓƵ. He received his PhD and MSc in Computer Vision from ߣߣÊÓƵ after completing his BSc and MSc in Physics from the University of Kent at Canterbury. Stuart has also spent time working in industry, specifically in the development and deployment of commercial scientific and technical software. He has worked at companies in the UK, Europe and the US.

Current activities

Stuart joined ߣߣÊÓƵ in 2022 as a Lecturer in Computational Intelligence and Data Analytics and is currently the Course Director for the Computational & Software Techniques in Engineering MSc course. Stuart's research is focused on developing novel algorithms in vision-based computing, making use of both traditional image analysis as well as recent advances in machine learning models. Current areas of interest include HCI applications, security & surveillance and autonomous vehicle operations.
