Background

Chris obtained his BEng in Computer Systems Engineering from Sussex University in 1990. He then spent 13 years working for RARDE/DRA/DERA/Qinetiq working on:

Research in ignition and growth of reaction in energetic materials

Development of computer models and experiments for model validation

large-scale trials planning

project management.

Chris joined ߣߣÊÓƵ in 2004 and his role has included:

Initiation sensitiveness and sensitivity

EMTAP (Energetic Materials Testing and Assessment Policy) testing

MSc project supervision

Current activities

Chris is Head of the Test and Evaluation Group in ߣߣÊÓƵ's Centre for Defence Chemistry. His interests include:

Measurement methods for sensitivity and detonation performance

Development of test methods for stockpile assurance

Development of qualification methods for new energetic materials.
